The sheltered bay with its pebbled beach is a real suntrap, where visitors can hire a boat, enjoy a swim or simply watch the local fishermen at work.
The pretty, quaint main street has a natural stream running alongside, taking visitors past pubs, restaurants and dozens of unusual shops just begging to be explored.
Beer has been famous since Roman times for its stone, which has been used in many famous buildings including Exeter Cathedral, the Tower of London and Windsor Castle.
Once discovered, visitors return regularly as there is so much to enjoy any time of year. The Beer Rhythm & Blues Festival, held in October, has a great atmosphere and offers performances throughout the area. The well established Beer Regatta Week, which takes place each August, is a favourite event in Beer's calendar, when much fun is had.
Another special event is Rattenbury Day in late August, when lots of festivities take place celebrating the life of Beer native, Jack Rattenbury, one of Devon's most notorious smugglers.
A visit to Beer Quarry Caves is a must: visitors marvel at the vast underground caverns dating back to Roman times; for family fun visit Pecorama which provides entertainment in the form of model railways, a passenger carrying miniature railway and spectacular gardens.
Discover the breathtaking scenery by taking a walk along the spectacular coastal path, or following the footpaths leading inland from the village.
