The small village of Osmington has narrow streets lined with picturesque thatched cottages. Stroll around the village and you'll find paths leading to the hills behind, a lovely walk on a fine day.

You can't miss the huge chalk white horse and rider, which is cut out of the hillside on Osmington Hill, just off of the A353. It represents King George 111, who regularly spent his holidays in Weymouth. At 323ft high and 280ft in length it was originally formed by cutting away the grass and earth to expose the chalky sub soil. In more recent years it was filled with loose limestone chippings. It is said that a Mr Wood, who created the figure, committed suicide when he realised that he had portrayed the King with his back to his beloved Weymouth. Unfortunately the King had made his last trip to the town and was never to see the monument!

Osmington Mills was once a small fishing village and its local pub is aptly named as 'The Smugglers'! The village sits on the South West Coast Path and offers spectacular views across the sea towards Portland.
