Dorset on the App Store

Weymouth-based publisher Resort Marketing’s design division, Full Picture has created a free application for the iPhone, iPad and iPod which puts the popular 'Resort Dorset & the World Heritage Coast' magazine in front of a whole new audience.

The magazine, which was first published in 1992, promotes the whole county with features on Dorset's towns and villages, eating out, shopping, leisure activities and much more. It is distributed each year from Easter until September through venues right across Dorset.

With the new app, available through Apple's App Store it can now be viewed the world over!

This first version of the app allows users to view all pages of the publication on screen, zooming in when required and swiping across the screen to change pages. There is also a pop-up strip of thumbnail pages, which allow for quick navigation to any page in the magazine. Stuart Cooper, Full Picture creative director and lead developer on the project said: "As the first app we have developed, this has been a challenging and rewarding project to work on. It's still early days and we are planning some exciting enhancements for future versions. We're always looking for ways to utilise new technology for the benefit of advertisers in the Resort magazine, and we're happy that this latest development has done just that."

Resort is published in three further editions which cover the counties of Cornwall, Southern Devon and South Hants. An out-of-season Dorset edition is also published each year.
